It's all good until you fall into the pond

Well, over my 8 years of teaching, we often visit Chattanooga Nature Center for a wonderful field trip!  We usually only go when the kiddos are in 2nd grade.  We actually get into the pond (up to your knees) and catch "critters".  The students identify all the animals and learn SO MUCH!  Well, I was up to my knees and my shoe was stuck in the mud.  As I was trying to find and retrieve my shoe, I slipped.  Yes, I slipped and did not recover!  I tried, oh I tried so hard but was unsuccessful.  I was up to my chest in COLD, muddy water.  Keep in mind, it was 9:30 in the morning and was probably only about 55-60 degrees.  BURRR!

That all being said, it was a wonderful field trip!  All of the kids were so well behaved and learned so much.  I was cold and wet until 4:30.  When I got home, I jumped right in the shower.  I was still covered in pond slim and smelled a little.

I am glad that I was able to leave 2nd grade with a BANG!
